Mallalli Falls, nestled in the picturesque Western Ghats of Karnataka, is a natural wonder that enthralls visitors with its breathtaking beauty and cascading waters. This mesmerizing waterfall, located near the town of Somwarpet in the Coorg district, is a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike.

The Kumaradhara River originates in the Pushpagiri Hills, cascades down the mountains and reaches a precipice near the village of Bettadahalli, where it plummets down a 200 feet cliff to form the magnificent Mallalli Falls.

Mallalli Falls is at its best during the monsoon season, from June to September, when the waterfall is in full flow, and the surrounding greenery is lush and vibrant. The rainwater adds to the grandeur of the falls, creating a breathtaking sight.

During periods of intense rainfall (July and August), observing Mallalli Falls may pose a challenge due to the strong winds that can make it difficult to maintain a stable standing position. Additionally, the heavy mist generated by the waterfall can envelop the surroundings, obstructing the view of the falls.

During the summer months of Feb to May, the water levels in Mallalli Falls tend to recede due to lower rainfall. While the waterfall may not be as majestic during this time, it still offers a serene and picturesque ambiance.

There’s a trail with 700 steps that will lead you to the base of falls. However, if you prefer to witness the grandeur of the falls from the top, there is no need to descend the steps. Climbing back up can be strenuous, making it more convenient to admire the falls from an elevated vantage point. However, for those who possess the fitness and stamina, venturing down to witness the falls from a different angle and observe the lively river is undoubtedly a worthwhile endeavor.
